This
Week We have had a good, productive week. We have completed almost all of our end-of-the-year
assessments – so we feel pretty accomplished and ready for 5th
grade! Reading and Math Dibels are done,
as well as DRA reading levels, and our end of the year spelling test! We will
complete our last writing prompt next week and then we can finish our
celebration activities without anything dangling over our heads! While we have been doing our assessments, we
have been taking time to work on Literacy and Math activities. We finished our literacy Treasures book with
the last story of “How Ben Franklin Stole the Lightning.” We have also started studying geometry
concepts with a project that incorporates art, quidditch, and collaborative
creative writing – inspired by Jeremy’s broken quidditch broom from last week! We also spent time this week working on our
food truck project and working in the school garden.
Next
Week We will continue to work on fun, engaging
activities as the year winds down. Next
week is full of our end of year traditions: Class Day Parade on Monday, Field
Day on Wednesday, and Reading Carnival on Friday. We will also work on our Food Truck projects –
with our target finishing date of 6/17, when we will celebrate with (optional)
samples from our food trucks on “Food Truck Tuesday.” We will work on our Broom/Geometry angles
project, our spring time narrative story writing prompt, as well as finish up
our Harry Potter favorite moment books, as well as some other possibilities….. You just never know what I’ll cook up next!
REMINDER: Class Day Parade 6/9, Field Day & BBQ
6/11, Reading Carnival 6/13, Food Truck Tuesday 6/17, and… Last Day of School
is June 19 – and it will be an Early Release Day.
