Making Wise Choices Behavior Chart

Today I introduced the class to a new behavior clip chart that will hopefully keep us on a better track in the classroom.

Each student has a clothespin with their name on it.  Everyone will start the day on the green card that is labeled, “Ready to Learn.”  Our goal is for everyone in the class to be respectful, responsible, and safe throughout the day.

If students need to be reminded to make better choices, they will be asked to move their clip to the yellow card  which is labeled, “Make Better Choices.”  If the students continue to make poor behavioral choices, they will move their clip to the red card which is labeled, “Stop & Think at Mrs. Beaudet’s table.”  They will need to then take some time to refocus by sitting at my table and accomplishing their work.

If, after moving their clip to the red card, students still cannot follow classroom expectations, they will move their clip to the orange card.  This means that the student will be sent to do processing with the teachers in the Student Support Room and then an orange form will be completed and sent home for parents to sign.  I ask that after you sign the orange form to return it to me, you then help your child discuss what happened, learn from their mistakes, and make a better plan for the next day in the classroom.

For students that make good, wise choices throughout the day (and do not need to move their clip from the green card), they will receive a “Wise Owl” card at the end of the day.  I hope you will help celebrate and reinforce your child’s good behavior by nice, warm words of encouragement.  Our hope is that everyone will collect many “Wise Owl” cards and as a result, we will have a productive classroom full of focused students.
Thank you so much for your support.  Please call or email with any questions.
