Thank You Fire Department!
Thank you to our local fire department for the great visit today! We need to remember to go home and check our smoke detector batteries and come up with a family escape plan!
Owl News - October 8
This Week Our short week went by fast! While we moved ahead nicely in Math,
finishing up our Chapter 2 lesson, we did not get to our ELA story. We decided to focus on our Owl project so we
can have that ready for Open House next week.
We worked on researching our owls – we did some reading and taking
notes. We can’t wait for you to see our
life size owl paintings! We also visited
Mount Rushmore with Paddington and enjoyed a visit from Franklin Fire
Department to learn about fire safety.
Did you Know? Our Owl projects were based on our Reading groups? We researched Barn owls, Screech owls, Eagle Owls, and Spotted Owls.

Owl News - October 2
This Week We had a great week. Our
routines are running well and smoother every day. In Math this week, we worked on place values
and naming three digit numbers. In ELA, we read the story “Meet Rosina,” and
worked on a story about our classroom.
With our Paddington’s Adventures, we visited the White House, the
Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.
We enjoyed seeing pictures of the lunar eclipse, smiled nicely for our
school pictures, and had fun at another quidditch practice. Everyone is also excited about collecting
gems on our new Reading Riches necklaces.
Next Week In ELA, we will read the story of “My Name is Yoon” and start an new journal story. In Math, we will continue working Chapter 2 where we will have lessons on numbers up to 1,000: counting up and back by 10s and 100s, number patterns, and comparing numbers. Paddington’s Adventures will bring us towards the Midwest to see some famous sites in the USA. We will also start our reading groups next week and groups will start researching owls. Remember there is a 4 day week next week – as teachers are at a workshop day on Friday, Oct. 9.
Did you Know? Every day after Math we ‘Go Noodle?’ Using the Go Noodle website, we get up out of our seats and take a brain break and do some movement to get ourselves reenergized for the next activity.
Important Dates Coming Up: Teacher Workshop/No School - October 9, Columbus Day/No School – October 12, Open House – October 13, 5-6:30, Gilford Historical Society Field Trip – Oct. 22, 2nd Grade Concert - Nov. 5.
