Owl News - October 2

This Week  We had a great week.  Our routines are running well and smoother every day.  In Math this week, we worked on place values and naming three digit numbers. In ELA, we read the story “Meet Rosina,” and worked on a story about our classroom.  With our Paddington’s Adventures, we visited the White House, the Washington Monument and the Lincoln Memorial.  We enjoyed seeing pictures of the lunar eclipse, smiled nicely for our school pictures, and had fun at another quidditch practice.  Everyone is also excited about collecting gems on our new Reading Riches necklaces.

Next Week  In ELA, we will read the story of “My Name is Yoon” and start an new journal story.   In Math, we will continue working Chapter 2 where we will have lessons on numbers up to 1,000: counting up and back by 10s and 100s, number patterns, and comparing numbers.  Paddington’s Adventures will bring us towards the Midwest to see some famous sites in the USA.  We will also start our reading groups next week and groups will start researching owls.  Remember there is a 4 day week next week – as teachers are at a workshop day on Friday, Oct. 9.
Did you Know? Every day after Math we ‘Go Noodle?’  Using the Go Noodle website, we get up out of our seats and take a brain break and do some movement to get ourselves reenergized for the next activity.
