Owl News - January 29th

This Week  We had a very nice week - full of lots of work and fun at the same time.  We read the cute story of "Mice and Beans" and discussed the qualities of fantasy and reality in stories.  In reading groups, we read books by Roald Dahl and Nate the Great mysteries.  We continued to work in Chapter 6 in Math and we are quickly mastering adding numbers into the hundreds. We completed our "Me on the Map" books and they look great! In our Nutrition class, we learned about fruits and how they can be good for us.  We also learned how to draw dragons and will be writing short stories to go along with them.

Next Week  In Math, we will move onto subtracting numbers in the hundreds.  In Literacy, we will read a story about the author of "Mice and Beans."  We will be finishing our dragon stories and starting new books in our reading groups.  We will also be starting our projects for Multicultural Night (which is on Feb. 18) by studying the culture of Great Britain and the United Kingdom.

Please make sure to send in a pair of “inside shoes” for your child – we will be keeping winter boots tucked away to keep the wet and sand off our floor.  Thank You!

Important Dates Coming Up: 100th Day of School Project Due Mon., Feb 8th.   Valentine Day Party – Friday, Feb. 12th. Multicultural Night Thurs., Feb 18th.  Winter Vacation – Feb. 20-28.
