Owl News - February 4

This Week  We started our project for Multicultural Night coming at the end of February.  We have started to study the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.  The whole class received their own royal titles and each family created their own coat of arms.  We now have a class full of dukes and duchesses, princes and princesses, earls and countesses, as well as lords and ladies.  The first thing we learned about was Queen Elizabeth II.  In Math, we learned how to subtract into the hundreds as well as having to regroup twice.

Next Week  In Math, we will finish up our lessons from Chapter 6 on subtraction in the hundreds.  We will be looking at maps of England, Great Britain, the United Kingdom and the Queen’s Commonwealth Realms.  We will be learning some cool things about the culture of the UK and working on more majestic projects.  We hope to finishing our dragon stories or poems.  Please remember that the 100th Day Project is due on Monday and we will celebrate the 100th day on Wednesday, February 10th.  The Valentine Day Party is also on Friday afternoon!

Please make sure to send in a pair of “inside shoes” for your child – we will be keeping winter boots tucked away to keep the wet and sand off our floor.  Thank You!

Important Dates Coming Up: 100th Day of School Project Due Mon., Feb 8th.   Valentine Day Party – Friday, Feb. 12th. Multicultural Night Thurs., Feb 18th.  Winter Vacation – Feb. 20-28.
